Eating time, rumination and activity is affected by many factors. Evaluation of the parameters obtained from Vitalimeter 5P was performed on 719 dairy cows Czech fleckvieh cattle and Holstein cattle and their hybrids within one farm. Data collecting took place for one year. As part of a detailed evaluation using the GLM procedure, the lactation number, the period of the year and the pedigree (P < 0.001) had a significant effect on the time of rumination, eating, increased activity and the sum of activities. The highest values in all monitored parameters were reached by H 51-87. Within the effect of the lactation number was evident a certain discrepancy...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(4), 669-678 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068040669

Hydraulic conductivity determination plays an essential role in the investigation of groundwater flow regime which can then influence many field problems such as pumping capabilities in the area, transport of contaminant or heat and soil internal erosion. Numerous equations based on dimensional analysis or experimental measurements have been published since the end of the 19th century for the determination of hydraulic conductivity. However, not all of these formulae are applicable for every material and all of them bring some uncertainty in the value of hydraulic conductivity. This paper contains a description of experimental research carried...

Magdalena Senze, Monika Kowalska-Góralska, Katarzyna Czyż

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(4), 687-698 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068040687

The study was conducted on the Słup reservoir and the Nysa Szalona river (Poland). The material was benthic water and sediments. The aim of the study was to evaluate accumulation of Ca, Mg, Na and K in the sediments. The assessment of studied elements accumulation was based on calculations of the cumulation factor in the sediment. On this basis, an attempt was made to assess the possible impact of the compounds deposited in the sediment on the organisms living in the reservoir and on the change in the composition of water which constitutes the basis for drinking water. It was found that the studied sediments are rich in Ca, Mg and K compounds but relatively...

Manfred Schönleben, Joachim Mentschel, Sebastian Feser, Luboš Střelec, Klaus Klunker

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(4), 699-705 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068040699

Modern high-performance swine genetics, such as Danish hybrid sows, can yield large litter sizes. Especially in the suckling phase, managing these large litters with low piglet losses is often a challenge. To support the modern highly prolific sows and litters, the use of pre-starters as suckling pig supplementary feed, including sufficient freshwater access, are nowadays good professional practices. Neonatal piglets especially profit from liquid supplemental feed via the possible higher absolute dry matter intake potential, in comparison to solid feed or without supplement. Various studies also indicate that supplying additional liquid feed to piglets...

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(4), 707-718 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068040707

The work investigated the impact of a fermented mixture of papaya leaf and seed meal (FERM) on production traits, biochemical indices, intestinal ecology and carcass proportion of the Indonesian indigenous crossbred chickens (ICC). A 300 day-old ICC were assigned to five groups and fed on starter (1-4 weeks) and finisher diets (5-8 weeks) containing corn, soybean (CONT) or diets containing 1% (FERM1), 2.5% (FERM25), 5% (FERM5) or 7.5% (FERM75) of FERM. On week 8, blood was collected from birds prior to slaughter. The increased levels of FERM linearly reduced (P < 0.05) feed conversion and feed cost per kg weight gain, and increased (P...

Valuation provides proper evidence on the financial situation of the firms. Incorrect valuation delivers wrong signals for the market participants and stands on the concepts of markets with information asymmetry. The study measures the estimated intrinsic value of the selected companies listed in the Prague Stock Exchange. Moreover, the results of the work observe influencing factors that deviate stock prices of the companies listed in the Prague Stock Exchange (PSE) from their estimated intrinsic value. Valuation techniques and Monte Carlo Simulation were employed to detain the estimated intrinsic of the selected companies from the Prague Stock Exchange....

Different econometric estimation techniques such as the feasible generalized least squares, fixed effects and random effects and different calculation of firm performance such as non market-based measure (return on assets) and market-based measure (Tobin's q) are employed to validate the consistent results. The robust results confirm a statistically...

Consumption Function in the Context of Cultural Affinity Zones

Terézia Vančová, Luboš Střelec

Acta Univ. Agric. Silvic. Mendelianae Brun. 2020, 68(4), 797-806 | DOI: 10.11118/actaun202068040797

Consumers' purchasing behaviour is affected at the microeconomic level by personal, psychological, situational, social and cultural factors. Beside the political and economic factors, culture with its beliefs, values, attitudes and traditions plays a substantial role also at the macroeconomic level in affecting national aggregate consumption, despite the recent phenomenon of globalisation. There is an evidence of excess sensitivity in European countries, which confirms that income change is a good predictor of consumption change. Clusters of European countries constructed according to single consumption functions correspond to some extent to the cultural...
